THE SUBSEQUENT COURT MARTIAL OF LORD GAMBIER FOR EXCESSIVE CAUTION WHICH HAD SQUANDERED A CRUSHING VICTORY

Lord Cochrane opposed a Parliamentary vote of thanks to the Admiral, who requests a Court Martial to clear his name. Complete coverage of the Trial then takes place and is recorded in 9 issues of The Times (one issue is damaged but includes a complete photocopy of missing section). The set also includes a sketch chart of the scene of our operations in the Basque Roads contained in the issue dated the 29th of July, 1809.

The Times, dated the 27th, 28th, 29th, 31st of July, followed by 5 issues dated the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th of August, 1809.
