The colonial gunboat H.M.S. 'Goshawk' on the China Station

An 'Ariel' Class composite gunboat launched 1872-3, Goshawk was built by Pembroke Dockyard and displaced 438 tons. Screw-driven, she could develop an impressive 10½ knots and was armed with 2-64pdr rifled muzzle load and 2-20pdr breech load guns; and required a complement of 60 men. She was broken up in 1906.
