A BRONZE FIGURE OF A HELMSMAN, BERLIN, EARLY 20TH CENTURY
after the model by Edmund Moeller, modelled as an heroic young sailor standing at a ship's wheel astride an anchor, the shaped rectangular base inscribed E. Möller and stamped 'Gladenbeck's Bronce-Giesserei, Inh. W. & P. Gladenbeck' -- 56cm. high including black marble plinth

Edmund Möller (1885-1950) is perhaps best known in Peru, for his Freedom Monument in Trujillo, as well as in Dresden, where many of his works can be found; Walter and Paul Gladenbeck, with their father Hermann's support, established circa 1900 their own offshoot of the famous Gladenbeck foundry, also in the Berlin suburb of Friedrichshagen.
