Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan (1731 - 1804) defeated the Dutch fleet off Camperdown, which was then under French Revolutionary rule, 1797. This victory was considered one of the most significant actions in naval history.

Sir Alexander Schomberg: thread margins, several handling creases and areas of rubbing. George Farmer: wide margins, mostly marginal spotting, otherwise in good condition. Charles Saunders: narrow margins, otherwise in good condition. Edward Boscawen: the sheet has been trimmed to the platemark and has handling creases throughout. Arthur Forrest: thread margins, minor loss in the upper right, and lower left sheet corners, mounted on a card support, occasional spotting. Hyde Parker: thread margins on three sides, the right side trimmed within the image, one horizontal crease in the image. Lord Duncan: thread margins, water-staining in the title field.
