The Brig 'Eliza'

Eliza was a popular ship's name in the mid-Victorian period but this vessel is probably that built on Prince Edward Island (Canada) in 1856. Registered at 210 tons, she was a large brig and measured 108 feet in length with a 23 foot beam. By 1870 she was owned and commanded by Captain J. Bolt who traded her out of Gloucester to the Mediterranean although her home port was actually Shields.
