A PART SERVICE USED ABOARD THE ROYAL BARGE NORE

comprising fourteen plates, ten large side plates; eleven small side plates; twenty saucers, with eight coffee cones with blue, white and gold edging with 'PLA' or crest, with maker's marks for Minton and Simpsons ; together with a quantity of EPNS flatware mostly engraved 'PLA'; and a large quantity of photographs and supporting documents.

Commissioned from Camper & Nicholson by the Port of London Authority for use by the Royal household, and launched in 1951, Nore was designated the 'Royal Barge' during the Coronation ceremonies in 1953. Removed from service in 1971, she was initially used by sea scouts, and then acquired for restoration although it is not known when this will be completed.
