A mid-19th Century 6in. radius vernier sextant by Thomas Jones
with oxidised brass lattice frame, signed on the arc Thomas Jones 62 Charing Cross, inset silvered scale divided to 165°, vernier with swivel magnifier, six shades, two mirrors and four sighting tubes, rosewood handle with hole for stand, contained within a fitted keystone case with original trade label and another, and tag inscribed Sub Lieut Duff R.N. / H.M. Navigation School (brass pin feet missing)

12½in. (32cm.) diameter.

Thomas Jones the elder occupied these premises between 1816 and 1850.
