The Aberdeen Line was founded in 1825. In 1905 the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company (White Star Line) and Shaw Savill and Albion jointly took control of the company. The new joint owners used the Aberdeen Line name until amalgamation with the Australian Commonwealth Line to form the Aberdeen and Commonwealth Line in 1928.
