Forty-three 'H' Class were built by various yards abroad and at home between 1915 and 1919. Displacing 423 long tons, they were popular with their crews of 22 despite equal numbers being sunk to the enemy as to dockyard accidents at four apiece. Built by Armstrong Whitworth, H41 was one of the latter four when she was drawn under the propellers of H.M.S. Vulcan which was testing her boilers in Blyth Dockyard basin on the 18th of October 1919 and pierced her pressure hull -- just a year after she was launched. She was sold for breaking in March 1920.
