carved from ½in. yellow laminated pine with ebonised topsides, cutaway masts and funnel and red painted metal rudder, mounted on wooden display board with contrasting waterline veneers and yard number applied to front inscribed 103 -- 10 x 48in. (25 x 122cm.)
The S.S. Strathallan, a 659 ton single-cylinder cargo ship was built by J. Murray (Port Glasgow) for J. Hay & Son, 1881, and was sunk in a collision with the S.S. Adara near Lavernock Point in 1887.
Condition Report
the hull has marks and abrasions overall, scuffings to topside, scratch inscribed Tammy II to bow, backboard stained marked, evidence of damp to left edge with some loss to veneers, rudder may be old replacement, paint to funnel, rudder and numeral plate, probably later
