attractively carved and polished overall, with profile of a two-masted brig flying Royal Navy ensign inscribed BRIG JOHN AND ELIZABETH CULLEN BLESS BE THE WISDOM AND THE POWER THE JUSTICE AND THE GRACE OF GOD, one end hollowed with sealing wax-filled eyes and open mouth -- 4in. (10cm.) overall

Speedy's most celebrated commander was Thomas Cochrane who famously captured the hugely-superior Spanish Gamo in 1801 using a series of ruses and bravado; both Speedy and Cochrane provided Patrick O'Brian with templates for Master and Commander which repeats several real-life exploits.
