the obverse inscribed Living in Everdon / *Thomas * Burton * 1691 *, with degree and declination scales, table of trigonometrical scales substituting letters for days of week, solid sights and plumb bob hole at apex; the reverse signed John Checkley, Fecit over a calendar scale dating between 1691 and 1730 and perpetual calendar for dates between 1696 and 1740 -- 4¾in. (12cm.) diameter
