A 1:96 SCALE RIGGED MODEL OF THE 16-GUN SLOOP PELICAN (1754)
modelled by H. Philips with open frames planked over the main wale, semi-planked deck, brass guns, capstan, bound masts with standing and running rigging, contained in a glazed wooden case. Overall measurements -- 16¾ x 21in. (42.5 x 53.2cm.)

Built at Shoreham as the merchant St. George in 1754, she was purchased by the Royal Navy in 1757 for £1,750 and re-named Pelican. A year later she was converted into a bomb ketch. After serving in North America and Quebec and being re-converted to a sloop and then again as a bomb ketch, she was sold for breaking in 1763.
