A RARE LABORATORY WAVE FORM REFRACTOMETER PRISM BY C.D. AHRENS, CIRCA 1910
heavily constructed in lacquered and oxidised brass, signed to top AHRENS PATENT / LONDON, removable micrometer refraction collimator and plain lens, supported on a wooden base within original box of issue stencilled to top 'AHRENS'S PRISM' -- 8¾ x 10¾ x 8½in. (22 x 27.5 x 21.5cm.)

Provenance: University College London

C.D. Ahrens (1843-1918) was a brilliant optical prism maker between 1858 and 1916; in 1910 he, in partnership with the famous microscope maker Moritz Pillischer, took out Patent No.18997 /1910 for this instrument which is able to split light beams.
