An attached note describes a previous mount which identified this as depicting H.M.S. Columbine in dry dock, 15th December 1826, two weeks after her launch at Portsmouth. Designed along new principles by Sir William Symonds, her success ensured his appointment as Surveyor of the Navy (1832-1860).
