ALEXANDER DAVISON'S MEDAL FOR THE NILE, 1ST AUGUST 1798
by C.H. Küchler in copper-gilt, impressed in sky T. WILLIAM / MID / H.M.S. MINOTAUR, and with the usual dedication from Davison around edge, later ribbon loop applied to top -- 1⅞in. (4.7cm.) diameter
Thomas Williams entered the Navy as a midshipman in 1794 and enjoyed a lively career, attained the rank of Commander in 1815 and retired on half pay a year later. He just qualified for the Naval General Service Medal before he died in 1849, and his example had clasps for Nile and St. Domingo.
