SOUVENIRS FROM MERTON
comprising an apparently unused stiff leather hat cockade with 'chelengk' and ribbon; a cast brass lion's mask door knob; and a small section of green wax jack taper in box with provenance, the cockade -- 5½in. (14cm.) high
(3)

A label on the door knob alleges it was recovered from Merton during its demolition in the 1920s; the wax taper has a note alleging a connection to Nelson at Trafalgar; the cockade comes from the same source, the only corroboration perhaps being the addition of the chelengk motif.

Sold for £174
Estimated at £150 - £250

(inc. buyer's premium of 24%)
