A FINE EARLY 19TH-CENTURY NAPOLEONIC FRENCH PRISONER-OF-WAR BONE ALLEGORICAL CALVARY ALTAR SCENE
the crucifix decorated with French and Christian symbols including a cockerel, chalice, stone mason's tools, lantern, spear, sponge on spear, ladder, monstrance, pricket candles etc., the cross flanked by carved depictions of the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene, finished in polychrome and mounted in a glazed strawwork-lined wooden case with silk curtains to front -- 10¼ x 7½in. (26 x 19cm.)

Condition Report
In fine original condition - typical wear for age represented in faded strawwork covering, and some areas of paint flaking internally, but much remains including original silk curtains and structurally sound overall. Very little warping or shrinkage to the internal fittings which appear secure in location.
